The City of West Hollywood is welcoming its newest retail cannabis dispensary, The Woods WeHo, set to open this coming Friday the 13th, at 8271 Santa Monica Boulevard. The West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is giving the cannabis lounge the ribbon-cutting treatment at noon, followed by a mixer with the City of West Hollywood, WeHo Sheriff’s and L.A. County Fire Department at 1 p.m.. They will open for business at 2 p.m.
The Woods Weho was founded by ERBA co-founders Devon Wheeler and Jay Handal, actor/activist Woody Harrelson, political commentator Bill Maher, interior designer and creative director, Thomas Schoos, and Schoos Design CEO Michael Berman. The new craft cannabis and a lush consumption lounge on Santa Monica Boulevard will serve premium organic, sun-grown, California herb. Situated between high-end eateries and shopping centers, The Woods Weho showcases an environmentally elegant and Zen-focused design with hand hewn reclaimed wood fixtures from Montana. The garden and consumption lounge aims to transport guests to a tranquil oasis in the heart of West Hollywood.
As Woody Harrelson prepped to open up his new West Hollywood dispensary, he did an interview with L.A. Weekly last month, where he shared his view of watching the cannabis world evolve into the moment where he was ready to pull the trigger.
“It’s kind of mind-blowing because to be honest, I never thought that it would get to this stage,” Harrelson told L.A. Weekly. “I never thought you’d even have it to where it was legal, much less that you could go get it out of the shop. So it’s pretty exciting. I don’t really take much credit, but a lot of people did a lot of hard work to make it happen. I don’t know what the definition of freedom is in a free country, but I would assume that you should be free to do what you want, as long as you don’t hurt anybody else or their property. But apparently, the government feels different about that.”
