Grammy award-winning rap artist, actress, and fashion icon Lil’ Kim is launching her own cannabis brand.
The new weed line will be called aphrodisiac and it’s being produced in partnershipwith superbad inc. Lil’ Kim’s aphrodisiac will be available in California beginning in 2022. Plan to see it on shelves for purchase within Q1 of next year, with a launch date to-be-announced soon.
Kimberly Denise Jones, who goes by her stage name Lil’ Kim, partnered with California-based superbad inc. to bring her cannabis brand to life. Founded in 2020, superbad inc. claims the coveted market space of a top shelf, modern, innovative cultivator and brand. The Lil’ Kim partnership also includes CampNova, a vertically-integrated marketing and distribution tech platform based in Northern California.
Lil’ Kim says she has been working on the brand for two and a half years. The rapper wants her cannabis flower line to reflect her personal style. It will be fashion-forward, dancing at the brand intersection of collectible, lifestyle, and cannabis. She says it’s only a matter of time before Lil’ Kim’s aphrodisiaccannabis will be available in her home state of New York as well as Michigan and New Jersey. New York is currently figuring out its licensing and regulations for adult-use cannabis, while New Jersey is inching closer to opening shop.
Lil’ Kim made the announcement on October 22, 2021, on the heels of MJBizCon which took place in Las Vegas, Nevada. I sat down with Lil’ Kim and superbad inc. founder Carlos Dew to find out their research and development process for the new line of cannabis products, what it means to see cannabis legalized in Kim’s home state of New York, and why the cannabis and music industries are made for hustlers.
