A fire at an illegal marijuana cultivation site on the north side of Sage Wednesday scorched just under a half-acre before crews got it under control.
The non-injury blaze was reported at about 11:35 a.m. in the area of Sage and Red Mountain roads, roughly three miles southeast of Diamond Valley Lake, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location, preceded by a Cal Fire air attack boss in an observer plane and a water-dropping helicopter.
The chopper made several runs on the slow-moving fire, halting its forward rate of spread at 12:35 p.m., according to officials at the scene.
Firefighters completely contained the blaze just before 1 p.m. and were expected to remain at the location, mopping up, until 3 p.m.
